Smells Like Money (金の匂い Kane no Nioi) is the 43rd chapter of Hiro Mashima's Edens Zero.
Spider and Drakken have a meeting about the Edens Zero. Meanwhile, Shiki's crew discusses about clues to find Valkyrie and decide to head the the Planet of Time, Mildian.
Summary
Spider's meeting with Drakken
Drakken asks who Spider is supposed to be, where one of the androids remembers that he's part of their tech division, calling him "Tick" but Spider corrects him. Drakken doesn't remember him, which the hacker tries to remind him that he fixed his computer and said they were brothers from then on. Drakken dismisses this and gets back to his "meeting". His assistant reads how Murray Morrison borrowed two million glee and that he owes him five million, interest included. Murray swears to pay him back while still having a bottle in his mouth and Drakken says returning what you borrow is common sense. Murray nods in agreement when Drakken tells him not to move too much and taps the bottle, changing its composition into Dramour Ore, the heaviest metal on Guilst, making the half-naked man fall back from the weight. Spider is in awe of the punishment Drakken gives. Drakken shatters the bottle in Murray's mouth as he can still draw if it's disfigured. Murray screams in pain, which Spiders cheers on and tells him to die. Drakken disagrees with that, as if he kills Murray, he won't get his money back and taunts the beaten man in that it was his own fault for getting into his situation. Drakken then lists off jobs for him to work, such as being a pet for a pig alien. He then has Murray taken away and asks Seth home much they lost from the Guilst disaster. The skull-faced bot informs him that all of their customers disappeared, which Diego adds won't help his reputation for always collecting his debt. Maria enters the room and states they have no choice but to find a new planet. Drakken glares at Spider, asking if he has something that will make him money.
The Planet of Time, Mildian
Spider tells them about the Edens Zero, which Drakken's assistant informs is the warship of the Demon King, who once ruled over the sector they're in. Drakken mocks the fantasy story gimmick and expresses how the crew of this ship beat him and made him come here. Spider calls them a bunch of grunts, which Drakken adds that they beat him after dropping his name and came to him. He states that his reputation is what keeps him in business and asks Spider what that means. He then orders Seth, who pulls out his gun and puts it back. A confused Spider wonders what happened. Diego complements his colleague, while Maria explains that Seth is fast on the draw and that the Spider doesn't realize that he's been shot. The hacker quickly falls to his side, lying dead on the couch. Drakken notes how he doesn't smell like money but his interest in the Edens Zero is piqued. Back on the Edens Zero, Witch accounts that they just need to find Valkyrie, while Hermit apologizes for giving them a hard time. Homura has no leads as to where her teacher could be, with the only thing she remembers was that a companion of Valkyrie, Sister, was at Blue Garden and was why she came to the guild. Rebecca explains how a lot of information is spread around guilds, which Sister reveals that she worked for their guild and received jobs from the Guild Master, Noah. She mentions how the Guild Master is suspicious, where he escaped from being kidnapped and that he gave her the job to go to Guilst. She speculates that Noah has ties to Guilst's underworld. Weisz brushes this off as they won't be dealing with him anymore, but Shiki is angered and plans to make him pay if he was the one who tricked his crewmates. Hermit reminds them to focus on finding Valkyrie and thinks of someone who has a lead on their fellow Shining Star, the Sakura Cosmos' legendary fortuneteller. Rebecca is skeptical about divination, but Sister specifies that the fortuneteller knows the past, present, and future. Homura asks where to find this person, and Hermit tells them that they're on Mildian, the Planet of Time. Meanwhile, on Blue Garden, Noah receives a transmission from Drakken, who queries the Guild Master about the Edens Zero.
