Andrew (アンドリュー, Andoryū^?) is a human engineer for the robots of Red Cave.^[1]

Appearance

Andrew was a young man with dark, wavy hair, a square chin with stubbles, and a faint, but constant blush. At the time of his death he wore a spacesuit.^[2]

Personality

According to Nadia, Andrew is a very kind, friendly young man with a mischievous side. She also mentioned that Andrew is a determined man, who eventually succeeded in repairing her^[1] and left Red Cave to retrieve the stolen treasure with a promise that he would return to Nadia.^[3]

Synopsis

History

200 years ago, Andrew lived on Red Cave where he conducted maintenance on the bots. Sometime after a thief stole the Temple of the Mother Beacon's treasure, where the Machines shut down due to the loss of the Ether radiating from the treasure, he managed to repair Nadia by attaching a long thick chord to her back to power her.^[1]

He left Red Cave in order to retrieve the stolen treasure and promised Nadia that he would come back to her, who remained at the temple waiting for him.^[4] In the year X290, after a whole year, Andrew succeeded in retrieving the treasure from a small-time crook with a help of a friend in the government. On his way back to Red Cave, he began recording a message stored in a memory chip to explain the situation and that the bots will be back to normal, and that Nadia does not need the cable anymore afterward. Stating that he missed the sky they watched together, where he apologized for the wait and that he cannot wait to see her again. He declared his love for her, but his ship was then struck by a meteoroid that left him unconscious and unable to steer. Because of the collision, it knocked his ship off course for 200 years.^[5]

Red Cave arc

In the present, Andrew's ship crashes into Red Cave, landing in the ocean. The Crew of Edens watches as it happens and decided to investigate it with the aid of Aquatic Adaptation Lacrima.^[6] Upon arriving at the crash site of the ship, Shiki and his friends find the engineer's corpse inside, surprising and confusing them. They find an undersea city with the Temple of the Mother Beacon at the center nearby.^[7] Rebecca takes a closer look on the deceased Andrew's ship and reads the inscription found on his cockpit: "Nadia, love of my life..."^[8]

Andrew's body is found by Nadia, who mourns for his loss, being comforted by Witch who told her the truth. The treasure, a candelabra^[9], breaks out of his ship, powering the bots once more and returning the planet back to its rightful state, receding the ocean and turning the sky red. Nadia states that he helped her see the world they once saw together again.^[10]

Powers and Abilities

Expert Engineer: Andrew was a skilled engineer who conducted maintenance on Red Cave's androids and was able to repair Nadia to function with the long cord attached to her back.^[1]
